Kayelissa Long

I create from a place of childlike wonder, believing that the world is best understood through a lens of play and a heart of gentleness. I like to think of myself as a bit of a neighborhood Spiderman, always swinging between my worlds of Visual Arts, Visual Communications, and Psychology. Having these three perspectives is my favorite way of showing love, allowing me to see the world from many different angles.

My work is an extension of my faith and a deep, quietly loud love for people. I see design as a way to look after one another, where accessibility is not just a requirement, but a sincere act of care. By leaning into visual quietness and sensory-friendly choices, I look for ways to bridge the gap between functioning and belonging in everything I create.

Ultimately, my practice is a celebration of the magic within the mundane. I hope my work reminds others that design can be as kind as it is beautiful and in every corner of my life, I strive to embody the truth that there is always, always room for play.

Project 1: Njoy Mah Hot sauce
N’Joy Mah is a high-contrast, modern hot sauce brand that pays homage to my grandmother’s traditional Cambodian cooking. The name itself is a playful double-meaning, bridging the gap between authentic Khmer flavors and a youthful, bold energy. This project involved designing a shelf-ready 3D prototype that feels at home in a high-end market while remaining deeply rooted in family heritage

Project 2: Crying in H Mart
This redesign replaces high-contrast drama with a "visual quietness" that mirrors the book's soft but heavy themes. By layering the image of kimchi with the act of crying, the cover captures the raw, exposed feeling of grieving through the lens of consumption.

Project 3: Neurologic Publication
This publication focuses on "visual quietness" to create a design that feels calm and easy to understand. Inspired by the "Calm Tech" of early 2000s books, it uses a simple, clean style to help people process information without feeling overwhelmed. By focusing on sensory-friendly layouts and tactile digital details, the goal is to provide a gentle "nudge" toward more intentional and inclusive ways of sharing information.
