Hello, I’m Jaeun. As I create new designs or art, I hope to bring to life a viewer’s memories and thoughts to foster new insights on how they see themselves and their place in the world. My design work includes brand identity work, poster design, and app designs. Much of the work I create engages with the ideas of exploring how the intersectionality of someone’s own identities shapes how they interact with the world. This goes especially for those who are not part of the majority, such as those who have disabilities, are LGBTQ+, or are of a racial minority such as Black and Asian people. The goal of my work is to create spaces, such as apps or websites, where people can be authentic to themselves safely, especially without the fear of judgement or harm.
Project 1: Synergy Systems - App
Synergy Systems is an app created to assist users in organizing their life with ease. It provides functionalities such as a calendar, task lists, and notes all in one app. You can also share events or tasks with friends, classmates, or coworkers using the social function. It also will link calendars from elsewhere such as from your email, like Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar. The home provides easy navigation of what you’ve done or need to do for the day, so you can check progress throughout the day. Notifications are also set up for calendar, notes, or tasks, in case you need reminders about finishing a certain task or making it to an event. Less apps to keep track of and integrated tasks all in one app.
Project 2: Pixel Pets - Logo, Brand, Poster
Pixel Pets is a non-profit company that works to bring together those who love desktop pets. Their goal is to create a tighter knit community for fans and creators, further explore the technology of how desktop pets can be improved, and promote creativity and DIY work. They host conventions in which people can gather together in community to learn more and find friends. Often conventions include speakers from companies that create desktop pets or that are involved in the technology used. Workshops are hosted there as well in which attendees can learn to make their own desktop pet, or create customizations for ones they already have.
Project 3: Solatium Studios - Logo & Brand
Solatium Studios is a game development company that creates games designed to bring feelings of comfort to their users through giving them a place of solace from the outside world. Their games also take into account and explore how the intersectionality of one’s identities affects how they interact with the world and the ever-changing technologies. Services include opportunities for those assigned female at birth, LGBTQ+, and people of color to grow and develop themselves within the gaming and streaming industry. The production of games and related products include indie and open-world games that allow users to customize their experience to create an immersive experience and find a community who accepts them as their authentic selves.
